Our Inspiration...
Psalm 127:1 (KJV) "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it..." We are called by God to minister to the people that we serve, but it is God who provides everything that goes into blessing every person.
Our Mission...
Heart Toward Home’s mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ as we aid lower income individuals and families in establishing stable, Christian homes. Our main focus is helping those who have previously struggled with homelessness. We assist them by pointing them to different opportunities for counseling and housing assistance and when they are housed, providing furniture and household items as we are able.
Heart Toward Home currently works through referrals from many different organizations/ministries providing whatever support is necessary while showing the love of Christ to our friends. Whether we met them on the street or they were referred to us by another agency, once they get housing, we work to provide the basic things they need to feel they have a home. They usually start out with nothing and have a very tight budget. We also take food boxes to those who need them.
We aim to be responsible in distributing material needs by working with those who have case management and/or mentors and those who show a real desire to change their circumstances.
Main Material Needs...
Living Room - sofas, love seats, chairs, TV stands, coffee tables, TV’s
Bedroom - bed rails, mattresses, box springs, bedding, bedside tables, chest of drawers, dressers, lamps
Kitchen - tables and chairs, microwaves, coffee pots, crock pots, mixers, dishes, cookware, flatware, non stick spatulas and cooking spoons, dish towels and rags, hot pads
Other - Bibles and devotionals, curtains, bath towels and wash clothes, shower curtains, trash cans, blankets, vacuums and brooms
- We take anything one needs to setup a household except decor due to limited storage space
- We also accept non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies
- Though many homes are too small, we occasionally provide washers and dryers
